Olympic Scholarships for Athletes

Objective of the programme
Help elite athletes selected by their respective NOCs to prepare and qualify for the Olympic Games, with a particular focus on athletes and NOCs with the greatest needs.
Procedure for allocating an Olympic scholarship
- The NOCs and the National Federations ( NFs ) identify potential candidates for an Olympic scholarship.
- The NOC selects the Olympic scholarship candidates and sends the applications to Olympic Solidarity.
- Each candidate file is analysed in consultation with the International Federation ( IF ) concerned, which provides a technical analysis.
- The final allocation decision is taken by Olympic Solidarity in consultation with the NOC
Advantages of an Olympic scholarship
A monthly grant to contribute to training costs and notably :
- appropriate training facilities
- a specialist coach for the relevant discipline
- regular medical and scientific assistance and check-ups
- accident and illness insurance
- full-board accommodation
- a qualification travel subsidy for participation in Olympic qualification events
Monitoring of the Olympic scholarship holders
- As soon as they became Olympic scholarship holders, all athletes are subject to ongoing monitoring.
- Olympic Solidarity establishes a reporting procedure to suit each available training option, enabling the scholarship holders’ performances to be measured regularly and efficient monitoring to be conducted.
- Participation in the various qualification competitions is an important part of this monitoring.
