Namibia to host Commonwealth games event

Started as the Queen's Baton Relay for the 1958 Games, the relay has been included in every games ever since. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, King Charles III became the Head of the Commonwealth, leading to the relay being renamed as the King's Baton Relay for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Over the years, the Relay has revolved into a powerful symbol of unity and diversity of the Commonwealth of Nations. With each Games, the tradition of the relay grows in scale and significance - visiting more Nations, involving more participants and creating more excitement than ever before.

Namibia, as a Commonwealth Nation hosted the Queens Baton from December 13 - 15, 2021 in the Erongo Region. 

It is hosting the Kings Baton Relay from September  25- 27 2025 in Windhoek, Walvis Bay and Swakopmund
