Medical Commission

Objective
The NNOC-CGA Medical Commission was established to strengthen athlete health governance, safeguarding, and performance support systems within Namibia’s Olympic and Commonwealth Games Movement. It ensures athletes are protected and supported through internationally aligned medical frameworks.
Mandate
- Acts as an advisory body to the NNOC-CGA Executive Board.
- Provides independent expert guidance on athlete health, welfare, and medical policy.
- Ensures alignment with International Olympic Committee (IOC) medical standards and best practices.
- Supports governance, athlete protection, and the delivery of safe, ethical, high-performance sport systems.
- Operates separately from Games-time medical teams, which are appointed through merit-based processes.

- Gaby Ahrens (Vice President, NNOC-CGA)—Commission Lead and liaison to the Executive Board.
- Former Olympian and three-time Olympic athlete.
- Member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Foundation Board.
- Brings governance expertise, athlete advocacy, and international experience.

Dr. Jürgen Hoffmann—Educational Psychologist
Specialist in mental performance, athlete welfare, and psychological resilience. Leads mental health and safeguarding frameworks.Dr. Ruan Mocke—Senior Physiotherapist
